Access Panels
An access panel (or access door) is an opening installed in the exhaust duct that allows inspection and cleaning of the interior of the grease duct system.
Purpose
- Allows technicians to reach otherwise inaccessible sections of ductwork.
- Enables complete removal of grease deposits throughout the system.
- Facilitates visual inspection for damage or excessive buildup.
- Supports ongoing maintenance without cutting into the duct.
Why it's important
Grease ducts often run above ceilings or through walls, making internal surfaces impossible to reach without access openings. Properly located access panels ensure the entire exhaust path can be cleaned, reducing grease accumulation that could fuel a fire. They also help inspectors verify that the system has been adequately maintained.
